Why Bother With Goals?

Updated: Jul 7, 2022

Why would anyone bother to go through the tedious process of clearly identifying and then charting a very detailed course as to how to arrive at a goal?

It seems like a lot of trouble to go through to achieve something that may or may not happen. Wouldn’t things be much better if we didn’t have to add the extra worry to an already tense and stressful life?

The answer is that this is EXACTLY why we SHOULD bother with the stress of goal-making and goal-chasing and eventually goal-achieving.

Having goals provides us with a certain amount of focus that can catapult us in the direction of our dreams. With so much information being thrown at us these days it is easy to become overwhelmed and forget what we are trying to achieve in life.

It’s like walking into a fancy department store in order to use the bathroom when you run into the sales rack and find a bunch of amazing clothing items. The next thing you know you are looking for your size and preferred color and completely forgot that you had to use the bathroom at all.

Well, if you are reading this post, it is likely that there is something that you are trying to achieve, something that you would like to add or change in your life, or maybe you are not where you want to be in life and maybe bothering with goals is exactly what you need to do to get where you want to go (I know that was a mouthful).

We are goal-achieving creatures from birth. We are born and we strive for basic needs and as we get older we strive to fit in and as we continue to age we strive to make our dreams come true. We are in a constant state of goal-achievement. Doesn't it make sense that we put some effort and training into learning how to do just that?

In our free member forums as well as during our Enriched Life Discussion Groups, we can get into a deep discussion about how to clarify the goals that we want to achieve as well as how to go about achieving them.

I speak from the perspective that in order to reach your biggest life goals, you must first understand your natural style. Once you have that figured out, you can move forward with confidence that you are doing your very best to achieve, even smash these goals.
